Welcome to the Paterson Grow Healthy website. This website is paid for by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Education Grant.
This grant provides financial assistance to Rutgers University to implement an educational program for fifth grade students on Food Systems and how food waste can affect our ecosystem. The goals of the project are to increase awareness about food waste as an environmental issue
in Paterson, New Jersey public schools and to increase knowledge regarding the complete food cycle
in order to inform decision making on food selection to reduce waste. To contact the Principal Investigators of the grant please email EPAee@njaes.rutgers.edu.
Choose from One of These Three Final Projects
Since we are unable to create a classroom project, please find three projects below that you can pick from to do at home. Once you complete the project, email EPAee@njaes.rutgers.edu to have it reviewed and posted on our site.
Projects You Can Do at Home
Spring is here! Even though we were supposed to start growing plants in your school gardens this month, we can still enjoy gardening at home. As a way to get you started with the in-home garden, all the students can pick up a Seed Sprout Kit from school and create a sprout garden.
